INSIDE OUT

For those that aren’t familiar, Inside Out is a 2015 American 3D computer-animated comedy-drama film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures and the Disney Book group wrote five fun storybooks, each devoted to a different Emotion, in order to get more about the emotions of the movie: Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger, and Fear.

I highly believe that Kids’ emotional intelligence “IQ” plays an important role in our students´ lives.  Being able to recognize their own emotions and other people’s is something that we have to work on. That´s why I´ve chosen this incredible book.

This fantastic box, which has five stories, works on the different emotions we might feel in multiple situations. Moreover, these emotions are identified with colours so kids may understand their feelings better.

Check out the videos below where Gma Jul Storytime reading these incredible stories of Inside Out:

I have been using this resource in my classroom (1st grade) and it´s working incredibly.

I created a corner with 5 pockets where my students can put their own sticks in (their names are written on them) and explain why they have chosen that pocket.

Thanks to that idea, they are starting to be able to understand the feeling they are having and be able to talk about their own feelings.

Another activity we tend to do after reading one of the stories is related to Arts and Crafts. I usually ask them to paint in our emotional-journal what kind of things make them being happy, sad, angry etc. (depends on the book we are working on)
